About Us

Lodge #142 has been part of the Portland metro area since 1894, which means this building on SE McLoughlin Blvd has outlasted every trend, every recession, and every excuse not to show up for your community. The members here are not a collection of strangers who signed a card. They are the people who drove a Vietnam-era Marine through his PTSD, who organized fundraisers when families hit bottom, and who hired a real chef so that Tuesday dinner is actually something to look forward to.

Coming out of COVID, the lodge made a deliberate push to upgrade, not just patch things up. New kitchen equipment, a seasoned culinary professional behind the stove, and renovated event spaces transformed what was already a gathering place into somewhere people actively want to be. With a 4.5-star rating across 359 reviews, the proof is in the regulars who keep coming back.

The Elks' national motto is "Elks Care, Elks Share," and Lodge #142 takes that seriously. Programs for veterans, youth scholarships, and community outreach are not afterthoughts here. They are the reason the lodge exists.

What We Offer

The lodge offers a full-service bar and dining room open to members and their guests, with a kitchen that now punches well above the typical club-food weight class. Weekly dinners, themed nights, and seasonal events give the calendar a rhythm that members genuinely plan around.

Event and banquet spaces are available for private parties, celebrations, and organizational meetings. The facilities have been renovated and can accommodate everything from an intimate retirement dinner to a larger community fundraiser. Inquire directly through elks142.com for availability and pricing.

Beyond the social side, Lodge #142 runs active veterans support programs, youth scholarship initiatives, and charitable giving tied to the Elks National Foundation. If you are a veteran looking for real, on-the-ground assistance, the lodge's dedicated volunteers, including standout staff members like Emma, have a track record of connecting people with the resources they actually need.

"Over the past 2 years, coming out of COVID, The MP142 Elks have made huge strides in improving and upgrading the facilities, to include hiring a chef in the kitchen that has brought a more seasoned and diverse menu. The Pool, Bowling Alley, Gym and RV Park have also seen noticeable investments in infrastructure. If you want to have fun with a great group of people putting on event after event (from Adult Prom to Bowling Leagues and much more), then this is the place to be. It's nice being a part of a community organization you can have a drink with friends knowing that it's ultimately supporting several charities."

"The Milwaukie Portland Elks Lodge is a true gem in the community. The members are welcoming and make you feel right at home, whether you’re visiting for a meal, a meeting, or one of their many events. The lodge itself is well-kept, spacious, and has a warm, family-friendly atmosphere. They do a lot of great work locally—supporting veterans, youth programs, and community service projects—which really reflects the heart of what being an Elk is all about. The bar and dining areas are comfortable, the food is tasty, and the staff and volunteers go above and beyond to make sure guests are taken care of. If you’re curious about the Elks or just looking for a place with good people and a strong sense of community, this lodge is definitely worth visiting."

The Elks gave America
Flag Day.

Long before it was a national observance, the Order set aside June 14th to honor the flag. Patriotism has always been one of our cardinal principles, and every lodge meeting still closes the same way it has for over a century.
